Our Name, Our Philosophy Friluftliv — a Norwegian word with no direct English translation — means something close to "open-air living." It's not about extreme sport or ticking off summits. It's the quiet conviction that a life lived close to the elements — walking through a forest, breathing cold mountain air, sharing food after a day outdoors — makes us more whole. We didn't import this idea. We recognized it. It's what happens naturally when you live, as we do, in San Martín de los Andes, at the heart of the Argentine cordillera. Out here, the mountains aren't a weekend escape — they're the rhythm of daily life. That's why we carry the word in our name: Friluftliv Patagonia Overland is less a brand than a description of how we already live, opened up to share. Who We Are? We live in San Martín de los Andes, in Argentine Patagonia — a town where the Andes meet ancient lenga forests and turquoise lakes. This is home, and we want to share it the way we actually live it: unhurried, attentive to small details, and grounded in the land itself. Overland is the other half of who we are — the miles covered by 4x4 to reach the places most visitors never see, paired with the miles covered on foot once the road runs out. Together, the two words hold our whole approach: a philosophy of open-air living, carried into the mountains by truck and by trail.
